The first Georgian ships in the Black Sea
We are the first Georgian fishing company to own and operate a brand new built fishing fleet.
Our vision spans beyond commercial success; our goal is to meaningfully contribute to the revival and expansion of Georgia's fishing industry. By investing in modern vessels, advanced processing facilities, and nurturing industry expertise, Dromoni aims to support Georgia's positioning as a leading Black Sea maritime nation and Black Sea fish products producer.
Dromoni's pioneering infrastructure achievements were made possible through a combination of private capital and structured financing under the “Enterprise Georgia” program — a national initiative for the development of Georgia's fishing industry.
The life around Georgia’s coastline has been shaped by the Black Sea for centuries. In Antiquity, the Colchis Lowland stood at the crossroads of civilisations, connecting the Mediterranean to the Caucasus and serving as a vital maritime hub between East and West.
For centuries, the abundance of the Black Sea sustained coastal communities, supported trade routes, and helped shape the region’s economy and identity.
These shores are the land of legends, where, according to Greek mythology, the story of the Golden Fleece unfolded and where the ancient city of Aia, the destination of the Argonauts, is believed to have stood.
Like many industries in the region, Georgia’s fishing sector underwent major transformation following the economic changes of the 1990s. An aging fleet, reduced infrastructure, and limited investment caused this legacy to fade.
At Dromoni we see these challenges as opportunities and strongly believe in Georgia’s potential to develop a leading fishing industry.
Today, renewed investment, growing global demand, and modern infrastructure are creating new momentum for Georgia’s fishing industry.
Both public and private actors recognise the strategic importance of revitalising the sector, from modernising fleets to strengthening processing and export capabilities. Programs such as Enterprise Georgia are supporting this transformation by helping companies invest in long-term industrial development.
