Dromoni's pioneering infrastructure achievements were made possible through a combination of private capital and structured financing under the “Enterprise Georgia” program — a national initiative for the development of Georgia's fishing industry.
Inspired by Georgia’s Rich Maritime Heritage
Georgia’s western coastline has been shaped by the Black Sea for centuries. In Antiquity, the Colchis Lowland stood at the crossroads of civilisations, connecting the Mediterranean to the Caucasus and serving as a vital maritime hub between East and West.
For centuries, the abundance of the Black Sea sustained coastal communities, supported trade routes, and helped shape the region’s economy and identity.
These shores are the land of legends, where, according to Greek mythology, the story of the Golden Fleece unfolded and where the ancient city of Aia, the destination of the Argonauts, is believed to have stood.
Transforming Challenges Into Opportunities
Like many industries in the region, Georgia’s fishing sector underwent major transformation following the economic changes of the 1990s. An aging fleet, reduced infrastructure, and limited investment caused this legacy to fade.
At Dromoni, we want to change that. We see challenges as opportunities and strongly believe in Georgia’s potential as a leading fishing and maritime nation.
